How to Add & Edit Video in a Slide Show

Overview

Videos can add an exciting element to your slide shows and with most digital cameras now able to capture video, including it in your slide show is a snap. You don't need expensive video-editing software, just use the built-in tools in ProShow Gold and Producer and get the job done fast. With ProShow, videos can cropped, edited and manipulated with all of the same tools you use on photos. You can remove unwanted frames from a video clip, turn a color clip into Black & White, even create a slow-mow effect(Producer only) for tender moments.

Quick Tips on Working with Video in ProShow

  1. Use Short Clips: When recording your video, capture a series of short clips that you can disperse throughout your slide show. Shorter clips work to enhance your photos and add an exciting element to your slide show. Stick to clips that are anywhere from 10 seconds to 60 seconds for the best result.
  2. Be Creative: A video doesn't always have to be front and center, especially when you're using ProShow. Use a clip of a water droplet as a mask or use moving clouds as a slide background or layer in a larger montage.
  3. Capture the Perfect Moment: A walk down the aisle, a couple's first dance, kids running in the grass, a favorite pet making the cutest
expression - clips like these intermixed with still photographs can be very effective in telling your story.

To Add a Video

Adding a video to your slide show is as easy as adding a photo. Simply locate your video clip in the Folders area and drag and drop it onto the Slide List. It's treated just like an image layer.

  1. With ProShow open, go to the Folder List and click on the folder containing the video you would like to use.
  2. Click on the video in the File List and drag it into the Slide List.
  3. A new slide is created with the video as the only layer.
  4. You can also add a video as another layer on a slide by holding < CTRL > while dropping the video onto an existing slide.

To trim the video down to a particular section you want to use, open up the Video Trimmer. See how below.

To Trim a Video

Remove unwanted frames from a video clip using non-destructive editing. Simply set a start and end point for the video and ProShow will only display those frames.
  1. Double-click on the slide containing the video clip to launch Slide Options.
  2. In the Layers tab, go to the Video Editing section and then click < Trim Video > button.
  3. Set Starting and Ending points for the video by clicking in the video at the places where you want it to start and end. Then click the buttons for Start Here and End Here to set the markers.
  4. Click < OK >.
  5. In the Layers tab of Slide Options, you can designate the Volume, Speed(Great for cool slow-mow effects but Producer only), Looping and Length of the video clip. Change these settings as desired.
  6. Click < Done >.
