How To Trim Silence from Soundtrack Songs and Set a Crossfade
Overview
Have you ever wanted to remove the first couple of seconds of silence at the beginning of a soundtrack song? Simply follow the steps below to customize your audio tracks.
To Trim Silence from Soundtrack Songs and Add a Crossfade:
Add the songs you would like to include by dragging them from the File List to the Audio List.
Double-click on the first audio track to launch Show Options. The Soundtrack options should be displayed.
Click on the first track in the Tracks list to select it then click < Edit Fades and Timing >.
Click on the Zoom slider on the right to zoom in on the track. You will see a flat line at the beginning of the track indicating the gap of silence before the music begins. In the waveform, click as close to the point where the silence ends as you can.
Click < Start Here > to set that starting point for the track.
Using the scroll bar, move to the end of the track. Locate the point at which the music ends and the waveform becomes a flat line. Click in the waveform as close to the end of the music as you can.
Click < End Here > to set the ending point for the track.
Set the fades for the beginning and end of the track as desired by entering a value in the Fade In and Fade Out boxes.
Click < OK >.
Repeat Steps 3 through 9 for each of the tracks in the Tracks list.
When you have trimmed the silence and set the fades for all the tracks, click on Track 2 to set the Offset. Enter a negative value, -1.5 for example, in the Offset box to make Track 2 start before Track 1 finishes. This creates a crossfade.
Repeat Step 11 for the remaining tracks. You do not need to set an Offset for Track 1.
