Registering Your Software


What is Activation?

When you purchase a Photodex product, you receive a registration key which activates your software. This registration key tells the software that you have purchased a legal copy of the software. If you do not enter a valid registration key, your software will operate as a trial.

How to Get a Registration Key

Your registration key is sent to you after you purchase the software. Registration keys are usually sent via e-mail shortly after your order is processed. To get a registration key, just purchase the software through our online store.

If you would like, you can also order by phone and receive your registration key over the phone.

Do I Need to Download a 'Registered Version?'

No. To make it easier for our customers, Photodex has combined the 'full' and 'trial' versions of our software. If you have the trial version installed, there is no need to download any additional software. Just enter your registration key into the trial version to convert it to a full version.

In fact, there is no difference between the 'registered' and 'trial' downloads available on our site. They are the exact same files.

What if I Lose My Registration Key?

Photodex keeps every registration key issued on file. We can send you another copy of your registration keys at any time.

How to Enter Your Registration Key

To enter your registration key and activate the software, follow these steps:
  1. Run the program normally.
  2. From the < Help > menu, select < Enter Registration Key(s) >.
  3. In the Registration window, enter your name, phone number and registration key as it appears on your receipt.
  4. Click < Activate Registration >.
That's it. You don't even need to restart the program. Your registration takes effect immediately.

You may want to note the follow details:

  • You do NOT need to be connected to the Internet to enter your registration.
  • Your name, phone number and registration key should be entered EXACTLY as they appear on your receipt.
  • Punctuation, spaces, and capitalization do not matter.

Problems with Registration


Evaluation Copy: "This registration key is outdated for this version."

If you receive this message, your upgrade period has expired and you will need to purchase an upgrade to register this version of the software. When this occurs, you have the following options:
  • Purchase an upgrade from our online store.
  • Uninstall the new version, and return to a previous version from our product archive.
  • Continue using the new version as a trial.

Evaluation Copy: "The registration key you entered is not valid."

This message can be displayed for a variety of reasons. The most common cause for the message is that your registration information was not entered EXACTLY as it appears on your receipt. Check the following items:
  1. Verifying that you have entered your name exactly the same as it appears on your receipt. If you included your middle initial or a suffix such as 'Jr', you need to enter that, too.
  2. Be sure that you have entered your phone number exactly the same as it appears on your receipt. Your registration key is tied to a specific phone number. Even if your number has changed, enter the number found on your receipt. If you have a '1' in front of your phone number, try removing it.
  3. Make certain that you have entered your registration key exactly as it appears on your receipt. Registration keys are a sequence of numbers and letters that must be precisely entered.
  4. Confirm that the date is correct on your computer.

Invalid Registration: "You are running [product name]. The registration you have entered..."

This message appears when you try to use a registration from a different product. For example, if you install ProShow Producer and try to use a registration key from ProShow Gold, this message will be displayed. To correct this, download the correct product for your registration or purchase a new registration for the product you have installed.
