Play HD Video on the Playstation® 3

Overview

To view an HD video you created of your slide show on your TV, you need to burn the file to a standard DVD. In this case, remember that you are not burning a true DVD; you are burning an MPEG2 HD video file to a disc as a data file.

PlayStation 3 Playback

If you have a Playstation3, you can watch this video file on the device using a variety of media. The most straight-forward method is with the standard data DVD you have already created. Follow the steps below to view the video from a disc.
  1. Use any burning software suite you have available to burn the HD video file to a standard DVD.
  2. Turn on the Playstation 3 and insert your disc.
  3. Locate and select Video from the main menu bar.
  4. Locate and select Data Disc from the Video sub-menu.
  5. Select the HD video you created from the list that appears to begin viewing it.

Alternative Methods

As an alternative, you can also place your HD video file on a memory stick, like a Compact Flash, SD memory, or Memory Stick Pro. Create a folder on the memory stick called Video and place the video file in that folder. The memory stick can be inserted into the Playstation 3 and viewed by selecting Memory Card from the Video menu, as opposed to Data Disc.

HD slide shows look wonderful on the Playstation 3 thanks to the combination of high resolution and high framerate. If you have access to the device, this is an experience you should not pass up.
