Workshop Chapters

  1. An Introduction to Masking (4:44)
    Start by learning what masking is from a traditional approach and understand how that definition translates to digital mediums like slideshows.
  2. Using Masking in Producer (12:08)
    To get started with masking effects, you need to know how the tools work. This chapter will show you where the masking tools are located and how you can begin using them in your shows.
  3. Using the Alpha Channel (8:40)
    Learn how to use the Alpha, or Transparency mask to create your own visual windows and control what parts of images you can see. Watch sample.
  4. Using the Intensity Channel (6:37)
    Once you have started using the Alpha mask, learn how to use the Intensity, or Grayscale, mask to set masks based on values of light and dark. Remember the key rule - light reveals, dark conceals. Watch sample.
  5. A Contrasting Blend (9:45)
    Use Intensity masking to blend images together on one slide, giving you the power to make interesting visual contrasts or connections between your images.
  6. The Picture Grid Display (7:38)
    Masks can be used with more than one image, as you will learn in this chapter. Make your images look more interesting with Alpha masks, and combine many images into a mask for great visual variety. Watch sample.
  7. The Spotlight Effect (8:10)
    You see "spotlights" in visual media all the time. Learn a few ways to create your own moving spotlights in your slideshows with some clever application of the masking tools.
