About the Changes to the MediaSource Product Line

On August 24, 2009, Photodex made some changes to the ProShow MediaSource product line. We did this because we want to make the MediaSource titles accessible to more users, and felt that lowering the price was a good place to start. To lower the price, it became necessary to replace all the titles with new versions that all had more appropriate amounts of content. Otherwise, not all titles would offer the same amount of materials for the same price. You'll find more details about this change below.

New Lower Price

The new price for ProShow MediaSource discs is $24.95. Previously, most MediaSource titles were priced at $49.95, with one title (Wedding Essentials) priced at $129.95. Since the MediaSource line was introduced a few years ago, the market for content has continued to evolve and change. We felt that a lower price point for the MediaSource product line was good step in keeping the products in line with the market.

Previous Titles Replaced

Once we decided to issue new titles at a lower price, we took a look our existing line-up. Offering 3 different price points ($129.95, $49.95, and $24.95) would likely lead to some confusion. We felt that rather than confuse the pricing with multiple price points, we should do a quick, one-time restructuring of the products to set them all at the same price.

To allow us to reduce the price, we have adjusted the amount of content available on these titles. This also helps to ensure that customers who purchased the original, higher priced titles did get something more than those who purchase at the new lower price. These updated titles do not contain as much 'stuff' as their original counterparts.

How New and Old Titles Compare

To accomplish this re-launch, we've selected parts of each title to include in the new discs. The new titles contain some, but not all, of the content found on the original. They do not, however, contain any new content. If you've got the original title, then you've got everything that appears on the new disc (and much more). There is no new content on the re-launched titles.

If You've Got the Original, Should You Buy the New One?

There's no need to. You've already got all the content on the new title. We don't recommend purchasing the new version of the title if you already own the previous version. Aside from some different packaging, you won't be getting anything different. If you purchased the original MediaSource titles at the original price, you might have paid more - but you also got considerably more.
