Ten Tips for Making the Perfect Mother's Day Slide Show

With Mother's Day just around the corner now is the perfect time to create a special slide show for Mom. Gather family photos, old and new, and use the tips below to create a truly unique Mother's Day gift that is sure to please the entire family.

  1. Formulate a Plan for Your Slide Show
Before you start dropping images into your slide show, take a minute to plan out what you would like to say in your show. Do you want to tell a life story, create a family photo show or celebrate the birth of a first born?

  2. Choosing Content
With the hundreds of digital photos and video clips you capture every year, it can be hard to narrow down the ones to use for your show. Remember that you are telling a story. Choose photos and videos that help you chronicle a sequence of events.

  3. Layers of Possibilities
A nicely framed photo looks better than a bare one. The same theory goes for images in your slide shows. Add custom backgrounds and borders to your photos and videos to spruce-up your show. Use your own or check out some of the family-oriented content that we provide in our MediaSource product line.

  4. Use Motion Effects to Add Emotion
Add a pan, zoom or rotate to any photo in your slide show to evoke emotion. A little motion goes a long way; the most simple zoom can bring your audience to tears.

  5. Set the Mood with Music
Choose the perfect song to accompany your Mother's Day slide show. With ProShow Gold you can easily sync your music and photos, crop an audio track and add custom fades to any song.

  6. Timing is Everything
Usually about one or two songs is the threshold to how long a slide show should last. Any longer and your audience might lose interest. Use the two-song maximum rule and your slide show should be right on target.

  7. Add Captions to Photos
Make a list of the top reasons why Mom is the best and try and portray that in the show. Is she kind, caring, loveable and beautiful? With ProShow Gold you can add captions to any photo, so feel free to express yourself.

  8. Include a Credits Slide
Adding a scrolling credits slide to the end of your slide show is a fun way to show who was involved in the creation process. You can list out who took the photos, who "starred" in the show, what song was played and more.

  9. Create a Custom Menu for Your Show
Add a custom menu to your slide show. The menu will be displayed before your slide show and allows you to choose when to start the show. Create your own menus in ProShow Gold or take a look at the selection that comes with our Family Keepsakes MediaSource title. You can also download free Mother's Day themed menus directly from ProShow.

  10. Choose Your Output Wisely
Think about how you want to output your Mother's Day slide show. With ProShow Gold you can easily output directly to DVD to watch a show in the living room, CD for PC playback, the Web for viewing online or choose to playback on one of dozens of portable devices including the iPod, Blackberry and iPhone.
