How did you get started creating slide shows?
My dogs inspired me. I started out with some crazy videos of Chester and Marilyn, my two lhasa-poos, and turned them into stories just for fun. I didn't have the easiest software to use for doing this, but once I discovered ProShow Producer, I was hooked. Creating slideshows became my new hobby.
What is your favorite slide show subject? Why?
I photograph everything I see, and have a camera with me all the time, but my eyes are always scanning the trees and woodlands for birds or other wildlife. I guess I'd have to say that my favorite subjects are nature, my dogs, and documenting each year's family events. Why? Because nature is beautiful, my dogs are funny, and my family is very special and important. I wouldn't want to forget a minute of it!
Where do you get the inspiration for the interesting effects you create in your slide shows?
Usually, after I go to bed at night, I see visions of slideshows dancing in my head. I try and think of ways that I can take a mundane, ordinary subject and make it interesting. It's always a challenge to find new effects that enhance, rather than overpower a show.
Is there anything else you would like to share with other ProShow users?
Photography is more than just a serious hobby for me. It is an opportunity to preserve moments in time, and to also show others how beautiful earth's creatures and plants are. Some people may look into my wetlands and see only a "swamp". I see the beauty of our world, with each day showing me a glimpse of birds, animals, or flowers I've never seen before.
People travel all over the world in order to photograph exciting subjects. Could I have gotten more interesting shots had I gone on an African Safari or trekked through places that are known for their photo opportunities? Yes, I'm sure I could have. But what makes my photos unique is that I've captured them all in my own yard. My yard isn't that big--maybe an acre or so. Look how much you can see in such a small space if you really look!
I have studied photography for four years, and each day I have a goal to take a better photo than I did the day before. How exciting when that happens! The only one I compete with is myself.
Putting it all together into a slideshow makes my photos come alive, with music creating just the right mood.
