Photodex Corporation Launches www.PictureCD.com Photosharing Destination for
Photofinishers to Upload Picture CD Orders.
Austin, TX - March 23, 2001 - Photodex Corporation, a leading graphics
software publisher, today launched the PictureCD.com website. This site
offers a location for photofinishers to upload images scanned for Picture
CDs using the Photodex Picture CDTM .
"This site offers no print services as that is a major revenue stream for
our clients (photofinishers). We feel that a strong relationship with or
clients is more important than competing with them on print services. We
are a software publisher, our business model is to make money selling
software, not prints." said David Eddy, VP Product Development for Photodex
Corporation.
The site, PictureCD.com, is customizable to compliment the packaging that
the Picture CD software creates, real time. Just before the software calls
for the CD to be burned, it communicates with and uploads to the
PictureCD.com server. An e-mail notification is then supplied to the
customer with a direct link to the pictures online. Also included on the
Packaging, and in the contents of the CD, is an upload ID allowing the
customer to go directly to the images stored on the PictureCD.com site.
About the Photodex Picture CD Solution
The Photodex Picture CD software has been distributed for over 2 years on
millions of Picture CDs with agreements with Pakon (a Kodak subsidiary),
Snapfish.com, and other private labels. Developed with the knowledge of a
profitable consumer graphics program, CompuPic, the Photodex development
team introduced the Photodex Picture CD as a simple and inexpensive solution
to provide custom Picture CDs.
