Photodex's New CompuPic Version Integrates Web-Based Digital Imaging With Editing Application
CompuPic 4.6 Includes PhotoLoft.com Upload Capability
Austin, Texas - July 28 1999 - Photodex Corporation today released version 4.6 of its
popular CompuPic Digital Content Manager application, including the capability to
upload images to the PhotoLoft.com (OTC Bulletin Board: LOFT) free online photo
sharing service.
"We think PhotoLoft.com is to web-based imaging what open source is to software developers,"
said Paul Schmidt, Photodex CEO. "PhotoLoft.com doesn't use proprietary file formats,
is free, and is accessible by anyone with a web browser. With CompuPic now available on
Windows, Macintosh and Linux platforms, this gives an enormous number of people a great
deal of flexibility to manage, manipulate and distribute their images."
The PhotoLoft.com upload feature in CompuPic enables both current PhotoLoft.com account
holders and new customers to access the site. Users are prompted by CompuPic to enter
their PhotoLoft.com registration information to upload images, or if they do not have a
PhotoLoft.com registration, are linked direct to PhotoLoft.com's registration page. Once
at Photoloft.com, users can enjoy the community aspects of the site, including photo
sharing, commenting on other photos and creating photo-personalized greeting cards and
gift items.
"PhotoLoft.com and CompuPic together give digital imaging enthusiasts a lot of options when
it comes to doing things with their images," said Schmidt. "Users can take a photo with their
digital camera, correct color and red-eye, crop the image, add captions or talk bubbles,
upload it to their own PhotoLoft, share it with their friends and order coffee mugs,
calendars or tons of other merchandise featuring their image, in literally a matter of
minutes."
