Austin, Texas - May 11 1999 - The fast-growing Linux community will soon have access to a powerful, flexible Digital Content Manager, with Photodex Corporation's port of its CompuPic software to the Linux platform.

"While Windows users have Windows Explorer to find files, there is no consistent file manager standard across all Linux implementations," said Paul Schmidt, Photodex CEO and Chief Technology Officer. "We've taken the concept of file management a step further with CompuPic Digital Content Manager. It won't just find your files - it will show you their contents and let you do stuff with them."

CompuPic Digital Content Manager is currently available for Windows 16-bit, Windows 95/98/NT and Macintosh platforms, and with the addition of a Linux version, will be the only truly cross-platform content management application.

Popular with users of scanners and digital cameras, webmasters, graphic designers and imaging enthusiasts, CompuPic combines powerful internal database functionality with easy-to-use image editing and manipulation tools. Instead of relying simply on file names and extensions, it actually shows file content in the form of quick-loading thumbnail previews. Users can access the images direct from the CompuPic browser window, and edit, correct, keyword or otherwise manipulate them. Image editing features include image correction, red-eye removal, text overlay as captions, "talk bubbles" and "thought bubbles" and soft-focus "vignette" framing. Images can even be converted into Internet greeting cards and sent over the Web with a click of the mouse. CompuPic also allows users to view multiple folders at the same time, combining all selected folder contents into a single thumbnail viewer for rapid browsing. Windows and Macintosh versions of CompuPic sell for $39.95 and can be downloaded from www.compupic.com. The software is distributed with a free 15-day free trial.

CompuPic for Linux will be released for public beta in mid-June, 1999, and is scheduled for final availability in Q3 1999.
