Millions of Moms to Receive Electronic Cards This Mother's Day

Austin, Texas - April 16 1999 - Millions of moms stand to receive Mothers Day greetings online this year, according to results of an email survey with more than 5,000 respondents. The survey was conducted by Photodex Corporation, www.photodex.com, and Digital Greetings, www.digitalgreetings.com, an online greeting card site.

"Just over 10% of the people we emailed responded to the survey. A surprising one- third of those said they plan to send a Mothers Day greeting online this year," said Photodex CEO Paul Schmidt, whose company develops software that, among other things, enables users to create online greeting cards from their own photos.

With an estimated 100 million internet users in the US alone, and internet use rapidly increasing in countries such as Australia, Finland, Denmark and Italy, all also celebrating Mothers Day on May 9th, prospects for the exchange of millions of electronic Mothers Day cards are high.

Photodex has integrated card creation features into its CompuPic 4.5 software, a digital image editing software package. users can create greeting cards using their own images, then deliver them for free over the Web via Digital Greetings website, direct from the CompuPic program.

"People can use CompuPic to correct and customize their own photos, for example eliminating red-eye or cropping images, or adding soft-focus vignette frames or comicbook- style talk bubbles," says Schmidt. "The easy greeting card interface can then turn the enhanced image into a personalized card and deliver it via Digital Greetings."

"Our survey told us that one of the main complaints users have about most online greeting card sites is the inability to easily use their own images, " says Schmidt. "By integrating card creation and automatic upload features with an image editing package, we have given users the best of both worlds."

In addition to its free online card delivery service, Digital Greetings also features a reminder service, through which users can program an entire year of events, and receive reminders via email.

About CompuPic CompuPic 4.5 is available via download from www.photodex.com or on CD by calling 1-800-377-4686 and retails for $39.95. The download version is distributed as a fully-functioning15-day free trial, after which time customers purchase a registration password.
