CompuPic Digital Content Manager Integrates Image Editing Software with Online Card Delivery Service
Austin, Texas - March 31 1999 - Graphics software company Photodex
Corporation (www.photodex.com) has signed online greeting cards company Digital
Greetings (www.digitalgreetings.com) as its first partner in a project to integrate
digital image editing software with web-based greeting cards.
Photodex Corporation will customize its popular CompuPic Digital Content Manager for
Digital Greetings, adding a card creation and delivery feature to its content management
tools. Users will be able to download the special Digital Greetings version of CompuPic
from Digital Greetings website, edit their own images into greeting cards, then deliver
the cards via Digital Greetings online card service.
“We have seen the popularity of online greeting cards explode over the last year,” said
Photodex founder and CEO, Paul Schmidt. “The missing link was the ability to easily
customize your own images and create your own cards. With CompuPic you can go from
digital camera snapshot to delivery of a professional quality, personalized card in literally seconds.”
With CompuPic’s powerful editing features, users can crop, rotate, enlarge and reduce images,
correct color, remove red-eye, add text captions or comicbook-style “talk bubbles” and add
soft-focus “vignette” frames. With the new Digital Greetings version, a mouseclick opens a
greeting card interface within CompuPic. Through this users can add messages, headings and
other text to both a card cover and inside page, enter the recipient’s email address and
deliver via Digital Greetings website, all without opening their web browser.
“Finding just the right card, whether at an online or retail store, is always a challenge,”
said Digital Greetings President, Alex Fielding. “By offering the ability to edit their own
images, our users get the ultimate flexibility. Digital Greetings already features content
from cutting-edge artists and photographers, however sometimes the perfect Mother’s Day card
is going to be the one with your own picture on it!” CompuPic retails for $39.95 and is
distributed via download from www.photodex.com and other sites with a free fifteen-day trial
period. Registered users can download upgrades for free for 12 months following registration
date, after which an upgrade price of $29.95 is charged. CompuPic for Digital Greetings will
be available via Digital Greetings and Photodex websites on April 15, 1999, with further
Photodex partnership announcements anticipated prior to Mother’s Day.
