Austin, TX, March 19, 2014 - For what may well be a first in photography, Photodex, the photographic industry's leading developer of video slideshow tools and Skip Cohen University are working together to recognize outstanding creativity with the Ultimate Story Video Contest.
The first contest in the three-part series runs from April 1 - June 10, 2014 with the winner being announced on June 20. The theme for the first contest is "General", giving artists the ability to pick any topic with the requirement that their submitted story include both still images and video. The second contest, July - September has a theme of "Adventure" and can include vacations, travel, landscape and wildlife. October - December's contest theme is "Weddings". With each contest judges will be looking for the most creativity in storytelling.
"Technology is constantly pushing the edge of the envelope and we want to recognize the amazing creativity we've been seeing in storytelling," commented Amanda Eddy, public relations manager for Photodex. "The combination of still images and video gives photographic artists today the ability to tell a story with the greatest impact in the history of photography!"
This unique contest will recognize one artist each quarter. The grand prize represents a value of over $3000 in prizes and includes a LUMIX GH3 with 20mm lens, a $500 gift certificate towards any Profoto Studio Lighting product, X-rite's Colormunki Photo the ultimate in color calibration equipment and software and a one year subscription to Photodex's ProShow Web.
"While the contest is in search of the ultimate story, the sponsors of this project are each the ultimate leaders in their area of expertise. The LUMIX line of cameras, Profoto's lighting, X-rite's color calibration products and Photodex's ProShow Web are all considered at the very top of their categories. Plus, our three judges represent some of the finest and most creative artists and educators in photography," comments Skip Cohen.
Judges include professional photographers and educators Suzette Allen, Mark Ridout and Giulio Sciorio. Each one is recognized for their creativity and skill set as a photographer, educator and storyteller.
