Photodex Celebrates 25 Years of Providing Innovative Photo Technologies

2012 boasted biggest debuts in company history.

Austin, TX, December 14, 2012 – Photodex, a leading provider of photo and video slideshow tools for consumers and photographers, today announced that it is celebrating its twenty-fifth year in business. Over the last twenty-five years Photodex has grown phenomenally and developed ground-breaking tools that have helped millions of people across the world turn their photos and video clips into compelling stories and shareable memories.

It all began in 1987, when Paul Schmidt founded Photodex with a simple idea: create good software. In 1991 Photodex released one of the very first digital imaging programs for consumers and has continued to innovate and grow. Some of the highlights from the past few years include:

• 2012: Photodex's biggest releases hit the market. ProShow 5 marked the most successful release in the history of the company and the award-winning ProShow product line celebrated its 10th year of innovation. The company was also honored with two Stevie Awards for Customer Service and Paul Schmidt was nominated as the Best CEO in Austin. 2012 also marked the launch of the ProShow Web iOS app which frequently ranks among the Apple Store’s top 25 photo + video iPad apps.
• 2011: Photodex partnered with photo hosting site SmugMug to offer new solutions for creating and sharing HD video slideshows. A new company website and blog were also introduced, designed with a fresh, user-friendly interface.
• In 2010, Paul Schmidt’s book, Secrets of ProShow Experts, was published and became one of the top software books of the year. Photodex hosted its second ProShow User Conference and Training Event in Austin, TX – attendees from around the world participated. ProShow Web was also released that year – a new service for creating instant video slideshows online.
